Books I Wish Were (good) Movies
A couple days ago Carly from "And So She Blogs" wrote about the top 5 books she'd like to see made into movies.
Hmmm, very interesting!!
I wanted to see how I did since I'm a WEIRDO when it comes to reading books.....I lurve me my non-fiction fear factor (like teflon causes cancer books) and I love me my orginial books (I've read the books behind many famous movies, tv shows etc...its fascinating what hollywood leaves out in terms of 'decent folk' -- writers are much more down and DIRTY).
So, YOU"VE BEEN WARNED!
1. Great Expectations. I know I know people....but all seven movies made so far about this book are SO not "it." I have a complete visual picture in my mind of this ultimate "Women Good, Men Bad" story....my movie would rock in the visual fabric catagory. (costuming and set design and all that jazz). I'd like to see it done along the lines of "Out of Africa" - those peeps got it right (however not in terms of the original book).
And for once and for all people -- this book isn't about some boy named Pip! It's about Mrs. Havisham's hatred for men! It's about CHICKS! : )
8th time's a charm???

2. Milk, The Deadly Poison. It was pure hell getting though all the tech and gov't speak in this book - but dude - what it teaches you about how the FDA and the food industry swap people so they can keep an industry strong. And I think no one does it better (meaning worse and filthy) than the milk people. Thank god we are finally drinking organic milk -- I've been crowing about this book for say .....over 10 years. I think we need something along the lines of "Fast Food Nation" or whatever that documentary was!!

3. Gone With The Wind. Ok, I know I know. But dudes! Have you read the book? If they made the movie like the book, we'd be in business than!! (there are more children Scarlette has, and more scandal etc etc.).

4. Queen of Whale Cay. Why gay/lesbian lovin' Hollywood hasn't gotten this one going yet? I'll never know. It is FA-BU-LOUS ness in it's story of the eccentric Marion Barbara "Joe" Carstiars knows as the "Fastest woman on Water" (speedboats).....And a trail of gorgeous high profile girlfriends in the 1920's.

5. Everybody Was So Young. It is basically a real life Great Gatsby. (not that they don't need to remake that one better, I hate all the movies done of that also). The lead couple are Fitzgerald's "models" for the couple in Tender is the Night. I'd like to see the movie if only to watch Sara Murphy wear pearls to the beach....I wear pearls more often after reading this. And of course, it so lends itself to wonderful filmography.
