Sex & The City: The Movie is ChickChat approved

That's me at the Sex & The City Boston premiere last night! Don't worry - no plot spoilers here!

Yesterday I got home from a business trip and took the subway straight to the movie theater. You may notice that I'm wearing a laptop backpack and business clothes (Ann Taylor Loft, no less. Shoot me.). The only appropriate thing I'm wearing is that huge smile!!!

Also? Instead of smuggling in a thermos of cosmos and 3 of my BFFs, I took my husband and a Quiznos sub. I did get a huge popcorn and lemonade, so I'd have something pink to drink.... I needed SOMETHING to make me feel connected to S&TC!!

To review, when the series ended, I was single and living in NYC. Now, I'm married and living in a suburb of Boston. Identity crisis, anyone?

Anyway - were you wondering how the movie is? The answer is: It's worth the $10 just to spend 2+ hours with the girls. The plot is weak. I don't like the overall message it sent. There's so much product placement that it felt infomercial-y at some points. And poor Jennifer Hudson, carrying the responsibility of making the movie relevant to Black women. I could go on, but I won't.

I LOVED watching this movie in a theater full of girls (and my husband). I loved that all of the girls in the movie have moved on since we left them - just like my real-life friends. Hasn't everyone's life changed in the last 4 years??

The movie didn't feel as "only-in-New-York" as the tv show did, if you are a girl who is or was single, you will laugh and cry and relate to this movie the way you related to the tv show.

Have a great weekend - and let us know if you liked the movie!!!
