A tiny bump on my left index finger had been growing for two years. It only hurt when I tried to carry something heavy or wrestled to open a door and applied direct pressure to it. I'm a righty, it wasn't a big deal - see:



I finally had a doctor or two look at it, and agreed to recommended surgery. I was under the impression that this procedure was going to be quick, easy and relatively painless. HA! Turns out that a tumor was tightly wrapped in a web of finger nerves. The procedure took twice as long as the doctor expected. And holy smokes - it hurts!

It's taken 2 days to come out from under the anesthesia haze. I'm sure I'll be able to sleep without codeine soon. It didn't even occur to me that I'd need more than a band-aid to help heal the boo-boo. Instead, the boo-boo makes it feel like most of my hand is on fire and that tiny ants with sharp teeth are chewing on the cut. And that's AFTER taking pain meds.
