Wish My Parents Left Me on the Side of the Road!
From FOXNEWS: WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Usually, it's an empty threat: "If you kids don't stop fighting, I'm going to stop this car right now and leave you here!" But a mother from an upper-crust New York suburb went through with it, ordering her battling 10- and 12-year-old daughters out of her car in White Plains' business district and driving off, police said Tuesday.
She was arrested. There is (was?) a temporary court order keeping her from contact with her kids. (wait -- isn't that just as bad as her leaving them? they obviously want their mom!!!! geez...)
Ok, um, well my parents never left - but their threat was to pull over and SPANK me on the side of the road. I would have MUCH rather they left me than spank me on the side of the road That would have been waaaay too embarrassng. : )
Seriously though -- I wonder if all of the judgemental America would be willing to step in and help when here girls are teens and doing drugs and failing out of school and getting tossed in jail because their mom only gave them verbal warnings that were never followed through on??? We all were kids once - we KNOW when parents never follow through. And we know what we can get away with (or in my case with very very strict parents, what I could never ever get away with).
I can't "take sides" without knowing the whole story. But I'm all over the benefit of the doubt. This woman is a much better mom than many of those who beat there kids in private, but look like "model" parents in public. Oh the things we'll never know about what one another has done to our kids to scar (or endanger) them. It's gonna happen.
Hell, once again I'll say it -- I rode in cars without child seat or seat belts!! GASP -- toss my parents in jail!! (oh wait ,, they did have those things back then....).
You know what parents I have a hard time not being judgemental about??? - in my mind - who I'd like to throw in jail? The ones who constantly feed their kids twinkies and fast food. They are killing their kids....starting with damaging the metabolism for life.
Really. What is the worst thing you can do to a kid? And what does warrent "jail"????
